Medium concentration masks are intended for administration of oxygen when precise control of inspired oxygen concentration is not mandatory. During inspiration the patient draws gases both from oxygen flowing into the mask through the tubing, as well as from room air via ports on the sides of the mask. Oxygen concentration delivered is 40%-60% depending on the patient’s breathing. The masks are connected directly to a compressed air oxygen supply.
